Hey what is seo?

Try google it: type seo is and before you click search just make a space hit once and see what Google offers as search suggestions :)

What youl get by typing "seo is " in google.com:

SEO is Google

So:

It appears that SEO is really quite a negative connotated search term.

Lets look at who are the first hits of the "seo is"  querries:

The blog seems to be quite a nice designed webpage and the author seems to have some potential in poetry too. Quoting some lines:

"SEO is using deodorant instead of washing"

"SEO is taking weight loss pills instead of exercising."

"SEO is the Zune"

"Marketers have destroyed the internet as we know it. To that end, SEO is dead. Three years max. Be passionate. Forget the rest." (from googles description :))

"Make $200K+ a Year Running the SEO Scam

If someone could take your crappy site and rank it for Viagra, Poker or Mortgages, why the hell would they do it for you? Why wouldn’t they just do it themselves and keep all the money?"

States that seo is actualy not a job, but a joke: "Anybody today can achieve excellent search engine ranking for his own blog or website in his sparetime"

A nice conclusion about what seo actualy is

Id like to add that this coincidence if anything is entertaining to mee. There is in my oppinion a good use and actual market demand for good SEO services. But there needs to be caution taken not to overdo SEO and not to overlook the quick usable sollution of SEM. Also make sure you know nobody is violating any search engine TOS for you. Googlers like to make the BMW SEO disaster case as an illustration of just how really serious they take search quality and how unforgivable they are towards spammers. Use SEO, but use it wisely. Wear a nice white hat doing that. Fight hype and provide quality service.

A seo`s job is sometimes also to tell the client that SEO isnt what they need...

Does that make sense?
