CERN, LHC 8:30 on 10 September
Since this is a "site about internet" I think it is OK if we take a look at what is going on in the place where the internet was invented - CERN , Switzerland.
On september 10th, from 8:30 CET AM you will be able to view the details of the biggest science experiment mankind has ever deviced.
http://webcast.cern.ch/ check this URL sept. 10, as CERN will offer live podcast.
The Large Hadron Colider is due to go effective that day. The first beam will start on that day. Every second 800 MIO collisions of particles will occour, as they will be propelled near light speed and collided. The experiment will take a look at the Big Bang itself, and black holes will actually be created by it.Theese black holes are supposed to evaporate instantly, due to the Hawking effect - a capability of black hole to loose mass also instead of just gaining it.
A quite interesting polemic is going on for some time, regardinng the safety of the experiment. Check those at Youtube.
As far as I am concerned, the probabilities are 50/50. If Hawking is wrong, there is a 50% probability of a disaster (that is infact a 25% probability),.. if he is right, there is a 50% probability, that everybody else is wrong about what his findings mean for this experiment,.. so its a 25+25 / 25+25 probability schema. Not a usual toss of coint though ;).
Make sure you dont missout the event. Hold your fingers crossed :) - afterall, it is "the Satans stargate experiment",...
